Solar energy monitoring

The solar energy market is one of the fastest developing markets in the energy business at this moment. Due to government subsidizing, a lot of new investments are focused to this form of green energy generation.

Everywhere around, solar panel fields are placed on old industrial sites or large factory rooftops.

A large number of these solar panel fields have been installed without a proper performance monitoring system due to lack of time in the engineering stage. The total performance of a solar panel string is determined by the performance of the weakest link, therefore the total performance can be reduced greatly by one panel not being installed correctly.

GSD Automation has developed a monitoring software package to monitor the actual production and compare it to the expected production.

This package shows the performance per inverter and up to string level in such a way that a panel set, reducing the total performance, can be detected and maintained.

This monitoring tool can be applied to a number of inverter brands or can easily be adapted to other brands when not supported at this time.

As part of the package, all performance data is kept in a database and a fiscal report is generated daily and monthly to show the actual production.

The interface for customers is accessible via a dedicated web site. Maintenance personnel can also benefit from the extra functionality for email and/or SMS warnings which can be added to the web page functionality.
